# §1090.255. Certified pentane standards.


Pentane designated as certified pentane under [§ 1090.1000(f)](/cfr/40/1090.1000.md?p=f) for use under the pentane blending provisions of [§ 1090.1320(b)](/cfr/40/1090.1320.md?p=b) must meet the following per-gallon standards:

- (a) **Pentane content.** Minimum 95 volume percent.
- (b) **Benzene content.** Maximum 0.03 volume percent.
- (c) **Sulfur content.** Maximum 10 ppm.
- (d) **Chemical composition.** Be composed solely of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur.
