# §1048.5. Which engines are excluded from this part's requirements?


This part does not apply to the following nonroad engines:

- (a) Engines that are certified to meet the requirements of [40 CFR part 1051](/cfr/40/part1051.md), or are otherwise subject to [40 CFR part 1051](/cfr/40/part1051.md) (for example, engines used in snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles).
- (b) **Propulsion marine engines.** See 40 CFR parts [91](/cfr/40/part91.md) and [1045](/cfr/40/part1045.md). This part applies with respect to auxiliary marine engines.
- (c) Engines that are certified to meet the requirements of 40 CFR parts [92](/cfr/40/part92.md) or [1033](/cfr/40/part1033.md) (locomotive engines), or are otherwise subject to 40 CFR parts [92](/cfr/40/part92.md) or [1033](/cfr/40/part1033.md).
