# §212.1. Scope.


The provisions of this part apply to the protection and registration of original designs of vessels under chapter 13 of title 17, United States Code. Design protection and registration under this part are separate from copyright protection and registration. Copyright registration is governed by the provisions of [part 202](/cfr/37/part202.md) of this subchapter.
