# §297.1. General.


[Section 7](/cfr/36/7.md) of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act ([16 U.S.C. 1278](/usc/16/1278.md)), as amended, provides for the protection of the free-flowing, scenic, and natural values of rivers designated as components or potential components of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System from the effects of construction of any water resources project.
