# §228.40. Authority.


Authority for the disposal of mineral materials is provided by the Materials Act of July 31, 1947 ([30 U.S.C. 601](/usc/30/601.md) et seq.), as amended by the Acts of August 31, 1950 ([30 U.S.C. 603-604](/usc/30/603-604.md)), July 23, 1955 (30 U.S.C. [601](/usc/30/601.md), [603](/usc/30/603.md)), and September 25, 1962 ([30 U.S.C. 602](/usc/30/602.md)), and by the following: the Act of June 4, 1897 ([16 U.S.C. 477](/usc/16/477.md)); the Act of March 4, 1917 ([16 U.S.C. 520](/usc/16/520.md)); the Bankhead-Jones Farm Tenant Act of July 22, 1937 ([7 U.S.C. 1010](/usc/7/1010.md)); the Act of September 1, 1949 ([section 3](/cfr/36/3.md)) ([30 U.S.C. 192c](/usc/30/192c.md)); the Act of June 30, 1950 ([16 U.S.C. 508b](/usc/16/508b.md)); the Act of June 28, 1952 ([section 3](/cfr/36/3.md)) (66 Stat. 285); the Act of September 2, 1958 ([16 U.S.C. 521a](/usc/16/521a.md)); the Act of June 11, 1960 (74 Stat. 205); the Federal Highway Act of August 27, 1958 ([23 U.S.C. 101](/usc/23/101.md) et seq.); and the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act of December 2, 1980 ([section 502](/cfr/36/502.md)) ([16 U.S.C. 539a](/usc/16/539a.md)).
