# §1256.42. Who imposes general restrictions?


The Archivist of the United States imposes all general restrictions in accordance with [5 U.S.C. 552](/usc/5/552.md), as amended, and 44 U.S.C. [2107(4)](/usc/44/2107.md?p=4), [2108](/usc/44/2108.md), and [2111](/usc/44/2111.md).
