# §1251.22. Are there any penalties for providing records or testimony in violation of this part?

- (a) An employee who discloses official records or information or gives testimony relating to official information, except as expressly authorized by NARA or as ordered by a Federal court after NARA has had the opportunity to be heard, may face the penalties provided in [18 U.S.C. 641](/usc/18/641.md) and other applicable laws. Additionally, former NARA employees are subject to the restrictions and penalties of 18 U.S.C. [207](/usc/18/207.md) and [216](/usc/18/216.md).
- (b) A current NARA employee who testifies or produces official records and information in violation of this part is subject to disciplinary action.
