# §1008.5. Federal Register notices describing systems of records.


The Privacy Act requires publication of a notice in the Federal Register describing each system of records subject to the Privacy Act. Such notice will be published prior to the establishment or a revision of the system of records. [5 U.S.C. 552a(e)(4)](/usc/5/552a.md?p=e-4).
