# §668.9. Relationship between clock hours and semester, trimester, or quarter hours in calculating Title IV, HEA program assistance.

- (a) In determining the amount of Title IV, HEA program assistance that a student who is enrolled in a program described in [§ 668.8(k)](/cfr/34/668.8.md?p=k) is eligible to receive, the institution shall apply the formula contained in [§ 668.8(l)](/cfr/34/668.8.md?p=l) to determine the number of semester, trimester, or quarter hours in that program, if the institution measures academic progress in that program in semester, trimester, or quarter hours.
- (b) Notwithstanding [paragraph (a)](#a) of this section, a public or private nonprofit hospital-based school of nursing that awards a diploma at the completion of the school's program of education is not required to apply the formula contained in [§ 668.8(l)](/cfr/34/668.8.md?p=l) to determine the number of semester, trimester, or quarter hours in that program for purposes of calculating Title IV, HEA program assistance.
