# §655.30. How does the Secretary evaluate an application?


The Secretary evaluates applications for International Education Programs using the criteria described in one or more of the following:

- (a) The general criteria in [§ 655.31](/cfr/34/655.31.md).
- (b) The specific criteria, as applicable, in [subpart C](/cfr/34/subpartC.md) of 34 CFR parts [656](/cfr/34/part656.md) and [657](/cfr/34/part657.md), or [subpart D](/cfr/34/subpartD.md) of 34 CFR parts [658](/cfr/34/part658.md), [660](/cfr/34/part660.md), 661, and 669.
