# §222.160. What are the scope and purpose of this subpart?

- (a) **Scope.** This subpart applies to determinations made by the Secretary under [section 8009](/cfr/34/8009.md) of the Act.
- (b) **Purpose.** The sole purpose of the regulations in this subpart is to implement the provisions of [section 8009](/cfr/34/8009.md). The definitions and standards contained in this subpart apply only with respect to [section 8009](/cfr/34/8009.md) and do not establish definitions and standards for any other purpose.
