# §174.5. Requirements for approval.


The Commandant approves a State numbering system if he or she finds, after examination of the information submitted by a State, that the State numbering system and vessel casualty reporting system meet the requirements of this part, 46 U.S.C. [6102](/usc/46/6102.md), and [46](/usc/46/46.md) U.S.C. Chapter 123.
