# §589.334. Shale projects.


The term shale projects as used in [§ 589.205](/cfr/31/589.205.md) includes projects that have the potential to produce oil from resources located in shale formations as well as projects that have the potential to produce oil from resources located in fine-grained sedimentary rock formations including shale, limestone, dolomites, sandstones, and clay.
