# §526.316. United States national.


The term United States national means a “national of the United States” as defined in 8 U.S.C. [1101(a)(22)](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-22) or [8](/usc/8/8.md) U.S.C. 1408, or a lawful permanent resident with significant ties to the United States.
