# §13.1. Purpose.


This part prescribes the procedures governing protective and financial assistance to State and local governments when an extraordinary protective need requires the protection of foreign diplomatic missions as authorized by sections [202](/usc/3/202.md) and [208](/usc/3/208.md) of Title 3, U.S. Code, as amended and added, respectively, by Pub. L. 94-196 (89 Stat. 1109).
