# §586.100. Authority.


The authority for this part derives from subsection 8 of the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCS Lands Act) ([43 U.S.C. 1337](/usc/43/1337.md)). The Secretary of the Interior delegated to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) the authority to regulate activities under [section 1337(p)(1)(D)](/cfr/30/1337.md?p=p-1-D) of OCS Lands Act.
