# §285.415. What is a lease or grant suspension?

- (a) A suspension is an interruption of the term of your lease or grant that may occur as ordered by BSEE, as provided in [§ 285.417](/cfr/30/285.417.md); or as approved or ordered by BOEM, as provided in 30 CFR [585.416](/cfr/30/585.416.md) and [585.417](/cfr/30/585.417.md).
- (b) A suspension extends the expiration date for the relevant period of your lease or grant for the length of time the suspension is in effect.
- (c) Activities may not be conducted on your lease or grant during the period of a suspension except as expressly authorized under the terms of the suspension.
