# §285.100. Authority.


The authority for this part derives from the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCS Lands Act) ([43 U.S.C. 1337](/usc/43/1337.md)). The Secretary of the Interior delegated to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) the authority to regulate certain activities. These regulations specifically apply to activities that:

- (a) Produce or support production, transportation, or transmission of energy from sources other than oil and gas; or
- (b) Use, for energy-related purposes or for other authorized marine-related purposes, facilities currently or previously used for activities authorized under the OCS Lands Act.
