# §2.205. Confidentiality of supervised release records.

- (a) Consistent with the Privacy Act of 1974 ([5 U.S.C 552a(b)](/usc/5/552a.md?p=b)), the contents of supervised release records shall be confidential and shall not be disclosed outside the Commission and CSOSA (or the U.S. Probation Office) except as provided in paragraphs [(b)](#b) and [(c)](#c) of this section.
- (b) Information pertaining to a releasee may be disclosed to the general public, without the consent of the releasee, as authorized by [§ 2.37](/cfr/28/2.37.md).
- (c) Information other than as described in [§ 2.37](/cfr/28/2.37.md) may be disclosed without the consent of the releasee only pursuant to the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 ([5 U.S.C. 552a(b)](/usc/5/552a.md?p=b)) and the implementing rules of the Commission or CSOSA, as applicable.
