# §41.47. Are Tribal colleges or universities eligible for endowments?

Yes. Tribal colleges and universities are eligible for endowments under a signed agreement between the Tribal college and university and the Secretary as described in [25 U.S.C. 1832](/usc/25/1832.md). Endowments must be invested in a trust fund and the Tribal college or university may only use the interest deposited for the purpose of defraying expenses associated with the operation of the Tribal college or university ([25 U.S.C. 1833](/usc/25/1833.md)).
