# §2.201. Do I need a lawyer in order to file a document in an appeal?


No. You may represent yourself. If you are represented by someone else, your representative must meet the standards established in [43 CFR part 1](/cfr/43/part1.md) and must provide documentation of his or her authority to act on your behalf.
