# §3285.404. Severe climatic conditions.


In frost-susceptible soil locations, ground anchor augers must be installed below the frost line, unless the foundation system is frost-protected to prevent the effects of frost heave, in accordance with acceptable engineering practice and [§ 3280.306](/cfr/24/3280.306.md) of this chapter and [§ 3285.312](/cfr/24/3285.312.md).
