# §635.201. Purpose.


The purpose of this subpart is to prescribe procedures in accordance with [23 U.S.C. 112(b)](/usc/23/112.md?p=b) for a State transportation department to request approval that highway construction work be performed by some method other than contract awarded by competitive bidding.
