# §96.1. Purpose.


This part provides for the accreditation and approval of agencies and persons pursuant to the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000 ([42 U.S.C. 14901-14954](/usc/42/14901-14954.md), Pub. L. 106-279), which implements the 1993 Hague Convention on the Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, U.S. Senate Treaty Doc. 105-51, Multilateral Treaties in Force as of January 1, 2016, p. 9; and the Intercountry Adoption Universal Accreditation Act of 2012 ([42 U.S.C. 14925](/usc/42/14925.md), Pub. L. 112-276).
