# §1532.1100. What does this subpart do?


This subpart explains how the EPA administers section 306 of the Clean Air Act (CAA) ([42 U.S.C. 7606](/usc/42/7606.md)) and section 508 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) ([33 U.S.C. 1368](/usc/33/1368.md)), which disqualify persons convicted for certain offenses under those statutes (see [§ 1532.1105](/cfr/2/1532.1105.md)), from eligibility to receive certain contracts, subcontracts, assistance, loans and other benefits (see coverage under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), [48 CFR part 9](/cfr/48/part9.md), [subpart 9.4](/cfr/2/subpart9.4.md) and subparts [A](/cfr/2/subpartA.md) through [I](/cfr/2/subpartI.md) of [2 CFR part 180](/cfr/2/part180.md)). It also explains: the procedures for seeking reinstatement of a person's eligibility under the CAA or CWA; the criteria and standards that apply to EPA's decision-making process; and requirements of award officials and others involved in Federal procurement and nonprocurement activities in carrying out their responsibilities under the CAA and CWA.
