# §207.12. Notice of preliminary phase of investigation.


Upon receipt by the Commission of a petition under [§ 207.10](/cfr/19/207.10.md) or receipt of notice that the administering authority has commenced an investigation under [section 702(a)](/cfr/19/702.md?p=a) or section 732(a) of the Act, the Director shall, as soon as practicable after consultation with the administering authority, institute an investigation and commence the preliminary phase of the investigation under [section 703(a)](/cfr/19/703.md?p=a) or section 733(a) of the Act and shall publish a notice to that effect in the Federal Register.
