# §284.261. Purpose.


This subpart exempts a person who engages in an emergency natural gas transaction, as defined for purposes of this subpart, in interstate commerce from the certificate requirements of section 7 of the Natural Gas Act and from the conditions of [§ 284.10](/cfr/18/284.10.md), except as provided in [§ 284.266](/cfr/18/284.266.md), and [§§ 284.7-284.9](/cfr/18/284.7-284.9.md) and [§§ 284.11-284.13](/cfr/18/284.11-284.13.md) of [subpart A](/cfr/18/subpartA.md) of this chapter.
