# §1112.30. What is the purpose of this subpart?


This subpart establishes the audit requirements for third party conformity assessment bodies pursuant to section 14(i)(1) of the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA) ([15 U.S.C. 2063(i)(1)](/usc/15/2063.md?p=i-1)). Compliance with these requirements is a condition of the continuing accreditation of such third party conformity assessment bodies pursuant to [section 14(a)(3)(C)](/cfr/16/14.md?p=a-3-C) of the CPSA. However, this subpart does not apply to certifying organizations under the Labeling of Hazardous Art Materials Act, even if such organizations are third party conformity assessment bodies.
