# §970.506. Environmental effects.


Before issuing or transferring an exploration license, the Administrator must find that the exploration proposed in the application cannot reasonably be expected to result in a significant adverse effect on the quality of the environment, taking into account the analyses and information in any applicable EIS prepared pursuant to section [109(c)](/cfr/15/109.md?p=c) or [109(d)](/cfr/15/109.md?p=d) of the Act. This finding also will be based upon the considerations and approach in [§ 970.701](/cfr/15/970.701.md).
