# §91.401. Applicability.

- (a) This subpart prescribes rules governing the maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations of U.S.-registered civil aircraft operating within or outside of the United States.
- (b) Sections [91.405](/cfr/14/91.405.md), [91.409](/cfr/14/91.409.md), [91.411](/cfr/14/91.411.md), [91.417](/cfr/14/91.417.md), and [91.419](/cfr/14/91.419.md) of this subpart do not apply to an aircraft maintained in accordance with a continuous airworthiness maintenance program as provided in part [121](/cfr/14/part121.md), [129](/cfr/14/part129.md), or §§ [91.1411](/cfr/14/91.1411.md) or [135.411(a)(2)](/cfr/14/135.411.md?p=a-2) of this chapter.
- (c) Sections [91.405](/cfr/14/91.405.md) and [91.409](/cfr/14/91.409.md) of this part do not apply to an airplane inspected in accordance with [part 125](/cfr/14/part125.md) of this chapter.
