# §3.401. Applicability and definitions.

- (a) This subpart applies to any person subject to the requirements in subchapter A (except parts [1](/cfr/14/part1.md) and [3](/cfr/14/part3.md)), subchapter C (except [part 39](/cfr/14/part39.md)), subchapter D, subchapter E (except parts [71](/cfr/14/part71.md) and [73](/cfr/14/part73.md)), subchapter F (except parts [95](/cfr/14/part95.md) and [97](/cfr/14/part97.md)), subchapter G (except [part 110](/cfr/14/part110.md)), subchapter H, and subchapter K (except parts [185](/cfr/14/part185.md), [187](/cfr/14/part187.md), 189, and 193), of this chapter.
- (b) For purposes of this part, “document in any format” includes documents (electronic or physical), and also other tangible items, such as data plates or marked parts.
