# §194.207. Alternate requirement for practical tests and training in a powered-lift.

- (a) **Required equipment for the practical test.** Notwithstanding the equipment requirement in [§ 61.45(b)(1)(ii)](/cfr/14/61.45.md?p=b-1-ii) of this chapter and the limitation specified in [§ 61.45(b)(2)](/cfr/14/61.45.md?p=b-2) of this chapter, an applicant for a certificate or rating may use a powered-lift that is precluded from performing all of the tasks required for the practical test without receiving a limitation on the applicant's certificate or rating, as appropriate.
- (b) **Waiver authority for a practical test conducted in a powered-lift.** An Examiner who conducts a practical test in a powered-lift may waive any task for which the FAA has provided waiver authority.
- (c) **Flight training on waived tasks.** Notwithstanding the requirements in §§ [61.107(a)](/cfr/14/61.107.md?p=a) and [61.127(a)](/cfr/14/61.127.md?p=a) of this chapter for training to include the areas of operation listed in [§ 61.107(b)(5)](/cfr/14/61.107.md?p=b-5) or [§ 61.127(b)(5)](/cfr/14/61.127.md?p=b-5) of this chapter, as applicable, an applicant seeking a private pilot certificate or commercial pilot certificate with a powered-lift category rating concurrently with a powered-lift type rating is not required to receive and log flight training on a task specified in an area of operation if the powered-lift is not capable of performing the task, provided the FAA has issued waiver authority for that task in accordance with [paragraph (b)](#b) of this section.
