# §124.520. Can 8(a) BD Program Participants participate in SBA's Mentor-Protégé program?

- (a) An 8(a) BD Program Participant, as any other small business, may participate in SBA's All Small Mentor-Protégé Program authorized under [§ 125.9](/cfr/13/125.9.md) of this chapter.
- (b) In order for a joint venture between a protégé and its SBA-approved mentor to receive the exclusion from affiliation with respect to a sole source or competitive 8(a) contract, the joint venture must meet the requirements set forth in § [124.513(c)](/cfr/13/124.513.md?p=c) and [(d)](/cfr/13/124.513.md?p=d).
