# §241.1. Authority and purpose.

- (a) **Authority.** This part is issued by the Board pursuant to [section 618](/cfr/12/618.md) of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act ([12 U.S.C. 1850a](/usc/12/1850a.md)).
- (b) **Purpose.** This part establishes the procedures by which a securities holding company may elect to register to be supervised by the Board.
