# §208.50. Authority, purpose, and scope.

- (a) **Authority.** [Subpart E](/cfr/12/subpartE.md) of Regulation H ([12 CFR part 208](/cfr/12/part208.md), [subpart E](/cfr/12/subpartE.md)) is issued by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System pursuant to section 304 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Improvement Act of 1991, ([12 U.S.C 1828(o)](/usc/12/1828.md?p=o)), Title XI of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act, ([12 U.S.C 3331-3351](/usc/12/3331-3351.md)), and [section 1473](/cfr/12/1473.md) of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, ([12 U.S.C. 3353](/usc/12/3353.md)).
- (b) **Purpose and scope.** This subpart prescribes standards for real estate lending to be used by state member banks in adopting internal real estate lending policies. The standards applicable to appraisals rendered in connection with Federally related transactions entered into by member banks and the minimum requirements for appraisal management companies are set forth in [12 CFR part 225](/cfr/12/part225.md), subparts [G](/cfr/12/subpartG.md) and [M](/cfr/12/subpartM.md) respectively (Regulation Y).
