# §1253.1. Purpose and authority.


The purpose of this part is to establish policies and procedures implementing the prior approval authority for Enterprise products, in accordance with [section 1321](/cfr/12/1321.md) of the Federal Housing Enterprises Financial Safety and Soundness Act of 1992 ([12 U.S.C. 4541](/usc/12/4541.md)), as amended (Safety and Soundness Act).
