# §1102.20. Authority, purpose, and scope.

- (a) **Authority.** This subpart is issued under sections [1103](/cfr/12/1103.md), [1106](/cfr/12/1106.md), [1118](/cfr/12/1118.md) and [1119(c)](/cfr/12/1119.md?p=c) of title XI of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA) (12 U.S.C. [3332](/usc/12/3332.md), [3335](/usc/12/3335.md), [3347](/usc/12/3347.md), and [3348(c)](/usc/12/3348.md?p=c)).
- (b) **Purpose and scope.** This subpart prescribes rules of practice and procedure governing non-recognition proceedings under [section 1118](/cfr/12/1118.md) of title XI ([12 U.S.C. 3347](/usc/12/3347.md)); and other proceedings necessary to carry out the purposes of title XI under [section 1119(c)](/cfr/12/1119.md?p=c) of title XI ([12 U.S.C. 3348(c)](/usc/12/3348.md?p=c)).
