# §109.36. Are there circumstances under which a political party committee is prohibited from making independent expenditures?


The national committee of a political party must not make independent expenditures in connection with the general election campaign of a candidate for President of the United States if the national committee of that political party is designated as the authorized committee of its Presidential candidate pursuant to [11 CFR 9002.1(c)](/cfr/11/9002.1.md?p=c).
