# §782.3. Authority.


The General Counsel or the General Counsel's delegate is authorized to investigate, settle, deny, or otherwise dispose of all claims of patent and copyright infringement pursuant to 42 U.S.C. [2201(g)](/usc/42/2201.md?p=g), [2223](/usc/42/2223.md), [5817(d)](/usc/42/5817.md?p=d) and [7261](/usc/42/7261.md); the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, [22 U.S.C. 2356](/usc/22/2356.md) (formerly the Mutual Security Acts of 1951 and 1954); the Invention Secrecy Act, [35 U.S.C. 183](/usc/35/183.md); and [28 U.S.C. 1498](/usc/28/1498.md).
