# §503.2. Prohibition.


Section 201 of the Act prohibits, unless an exemption has been granted under subpart [C](/cfr/10/subpartC.md) or [D](/cfr/10/subpartD.md) of this part, any new electric powerplant from being constructed or operated as a baseload powerplant without the capability to use coal or another alternate fuel as a primary energy source.
